The Four Most Important Equations Of Linear Motion

1.V f=Vi + at
2. D= ½ (Vf + Vi)t
3. D= ViT + 1/2at (Squared 2)
4. Vf(Squared 2)=Vi(Squared 2) + 2ad

So with the equations given to us above lets try some examples !

A car traveling at 10.0m/s accelerates a rate of 2.5m/s(squared to 2) to final velocity of 20m/s. How long does it take for this to occur?

A plane must reach a speed of 100m/s at take off. It takes 10 seconds to get down the runway, how long does the runway have to be?

Upon lift off, a rocket ship accelerates at a rate of 1m/s? How fast is it traveling when it reaches a height of 10,000m?

Acceleration is the change of velocity with time ratio - and can be expressed as

a = dv / dt (1)
a = acceleration (m/s2, ft/s2)
dv = v1 - v0 = change in velocity (m/s, ft/s)
